Credits, Usage, and Thanks

While walking in Hla Oad, you meet a strange being, who seems to be covered in scales with a fin down her back. A wave of compassion and curiosity crash over you...compelling you to speak to this strange creature. The creature is startled that you have chosen to speak with her, and is warmed by your compassion. She invites you to live in the grand Pearl Palace...and tells you it’s dark story.

PALACE ROOMS

The Alchemic Conservatory: Here you can view the unique plant life collected by the geneticist Nathanial Pearl, or you can work in your alchemy lab upstairs. Pull the lever on the Alchemy Sorting Machine to sort your ingredients.

The Athenaeum: An ancient word for Library, this wondrous hall can hold more books than you can dream! There are some levitation potions on the table, should you need them. Or you can sit and read on the edge of the fountain, lost in a dream.

The Galley: Stop by for a bite to eat…breakfast is put out on the table each morning. Or just stop by to talk to Pearl!

The Salon: Such a wondrous table awaits you after emerging from the elevator! If you can pull yourself away from the bar, or from the strange creatures swimming outside the windows and glass hallways.

The Parlor: Make a wish in the fountain, or just watch the strange dancer of machine and flesh dance.

The Angelic Boudoir: Surround yourself with refined luxury in this exquisite bedroom.

The Tropical Boudoir: Every day is a vacation when you sleep here.

The Doctor’s Boudoir: Elegant chambers for the sophisticated and robust.

The Bathroom: Bathe in a room of glass, with luxurious décor.

The Nursery: Here’s a pretty place for the children to stay. There are cats and kittens, teddy bears, and even a place for those growing minds to learn. Treat your Morrowind children to a starry night sky, even under the deepest of ocean.

The Wardrobe: Lots of closet space for the Morrowind fashion fan.

The Exhibition Hall: Here you can show the world your armor or clothing, without fear of the clothing fitting wrong! Better Bodies mannequins are at your disposal. If you need more mannequins, you can make them here.

The Vault: A magical force field may keep you from the piles of gold and mystical treasures just a few feet away, but there are plenty of tables to place your own treasures to admire.

The Forge: Strange Dwemer machines power this underwater fortress.

Nathanial Pearl’s Genetics Lab: The strange work of a brilliant mind still remains, with secrets left to unlock.

The Loading Docks: Catch a ride on the submarine or swim with the fish!

FEATURES TO NOTE

  • A completely undersea experience, all the windows are sea through, with views of undersea creatures outside of them.
  • A unique quest* to help a heartbroken widow, and to finish what a dead man started. Do you choose to take it? Or will you keep the secrets for yourself? The Quest will take you to a new undersea cavern. *Note: The quest is not required for ownership, nor is it required at all. If you choose, you can ignore it.
  • Two unique Better Bodies custom races welcome you into their home.
  • Sidithie, an NPC you’re soon to meet, will tell you the story of the palace via dialogue. She’ll also update your journal with information about each one of the rooms.
  • If you speak with the version of Sidithie who is in the Loading Docks, she will offer you travel to the following places: Hla Oad, Ebonheart, Vivec, and Gnaar Mok.
  • You can call Sidithie to you via a sea star, as long as you aren’t in the Palace or Hla Oad. She will offer you travel back to the palace…for a small price of course!
  • The Alchemic Conservatory houses a unique green house, as well as a fully functional alchemy lab complete with ingredient sorting for all the ingredients from Morrowind and the expansions.
  • A bubble panel in the Alchemic Conservatory will allow you to raise or lower the palace.
  • A library houses countless bookcases, all containers, which you can fill with thousands of books.
  • A beautiful bath, surrounded by glass walls, casts a regenerative spell on you when used.
  • The Exhibition hall houses 35 female white marble Better Bodies mannequins, and 31 male white marble Better Bodies mannequins.
  • A stone in the Exhibition Hall will allow you to create more mannequins, of your choosing, if you have a journeyman’s armor hammer in your inventory.
  • A mechanical dancer will dance for 60 seconds for you. To activate her, use the crank on her pedestal.
  • The Galley (Kitchen) is full of delicious new food and items. Some of the foods are NOM compatible. Check out the fish tank while you’re there.
  • The genetics lab holds a strange new creature, as well as some rather unique items.
  • The statue of “Azura: Sea Mother” will cast her blessing on you, if you donate a pearl. (Note: Without a pearl in your inventory, the statue will not ask you if you wish to donate.)
  • 3 birds fly sweetly in their cage. You can also open and close the bird cage door.
  • A completely interior Palace, to avoid exterior conflicts.
  • Necessities of Morrowind Compatibility. (See compatibility section)
  • NOM with BEER! Compatibility. (See compatibility section)
  • Your Morrowind Family compatibility dialogue. (See compatibility section)
  • The nursery features a rotating star dome, so even under the ocean you can view the night sky.

COMPATIBILITY

Necessities of Morrowind: The Galley features NOM food, tisane pots, and books, as well as NOM keg stands and water barrels. The fireplaces are also NOM compatible. If you are not using NOM, you may notice that a few things have names (aka keg stands, fireplaces, and barrels) but that is the only impact it will have on your game play. PLEASE NOTE: Necessities of Morrowind will need to be loaded AFTER the Pearl Palace esp.

Your Morrowind Family: Special dialogue has been included that the children will use in different rooms of the palace. If you are not using “Your Morrowind Family” by Emma, there will be no impact on game play…except that you have a nursery and no children to give it to!

Vampire Embrace: Special globals and compatible dialogue have been included for compatibility with Vampire Embrace, to accommodate for the “talktoPC” issue. Once again, if you are not using Vampire Embrace there will be no impact on gameplay.

BEER! With NOM: I’ve also included several beer bottles from Tarnsman’s BEER! Mod.

*If you are not using NOM, or BEER! With NOM: There will be no impact on your game whatsoever, except for several new beers in the galley.

*If you are using NOM alone: Once again, there will be no impact on game play regarding the beer.

*If you are using BEER! With NOM: The beer will now run its NOM compatible scripts, and you will reap NOM benefits from drinking the beer included.

PLEASE NOTE: BEER! With NOM will need to be loaded AFTER the Pearl Palace esp.

SPECIAL NOTES

  • This is an “as is” mod. Meaning? Please do not contact me for special requests or additions to the place, or for any changes to be made. Any such PMs or requests will either be ignored, or you will be referred to this read me. If a serious bug or error is found, that is another matter entirely.
  • MOST IF NOT ALL OF THE CELLS HAVE THE POSSIBILITY FOR FPS IMPACT. This is caused by the large amount of items in the cells, among other things. Due to the response I’ve got from people in the past regarding how their computers run FPS, I’m going to say this as nicely as I possibly can: IF THIS BOTHERS YOU UNINSTALL THE MOD. I WILL NOT, under any circumstances, respond to any correspondence pertaining to FPS issues. Nor will any cells be “lightened up”. The cells are intended to be luxurious and detailed. FPS varies on different systems, and can also vary depending on what other mods you are running.
  • Some cells may have a gap, or rut, in the floor in front of doors. This is caused by one of Fidel's original meshes. That particular mesh was used in certain cells because it fit the building needs the best. Please do not contact me about the mesh.
  • Some cells use ivy or other textures that contain alpha channels. Depending on the properties of the texture (which also depends on if the player uses a texture replacment) there may be the possibility of alpha glitches when the item overlaps the windows at certain angles. The ivy, or any other possible items, will not be removed or moved. Please do not request this.
  • If traveling with companions while first meeting Sidithie in Hla Oad, you may wish to tell them to stay put. The dialogue will transport you, and only you, to the Loading Docks of the palace. From there you can travel back using the version of Sidithie in the Loading docks and pick up your companions. There will now be a new version of Sidithie in Hla Oad that will offer traditional fast travel (the kind where your companions travel with you) back to the palace.
  • Do not COC into the Palace initially. There are multiple versions of Sidithie in Hla Oad. If you do not speak with her and initiate a journal entry from her dialogue, the proper version of Sidithie will not be in Hla Oad.
  • You can hear the Kraken scream twice if you jump into the water right after administering the poison and hearing the scream in the lab. In order for the sound to be heard where the player was transported after administering the poison, we needed to add the sound to the script. The Kraken’s animation also calls for the sound file in Death 2 idle.
  • You will receive the message box that the Kraken has died right before he begins his death animation. As adding a timer to the script is not something any of us feel quite up to at the moment, it’s one of those things that is just not going to happen.
  • There is a sound file on the laboratory entry tube that may or may not play for you. It may also just make a short “pop” sound. Apparently, it’s played for 2 other people, but for 2 of us it hasn’t played…and I’ve definitely heard the pop with the sound effects turned up and the music all the way down, with my system volume maxed out. The sound file is saved at optimum Morrowind settings. If it dosen’t play for you, please do not contact me stating so. I’m aware of the issue, and honestly…it’s not worth the 3 days of banging my head that it’s already received.
  • The Statue of “Azura: Sea Mother” will not prompt you that you need a pearl in your inventory. I rather like it that way. This will not be changed, nor is it a bug, as it was intentional.
  • There is a submarine in one of the exterior cells in Hla Oad. This submarine serves no purpose. If it conflicts with anything placed there, deleting the submarine from that cell will not cause any impact on game play.

  • DO NOT. I repeat DO NOT retrieve the journal and ring for the quest before taking the quest. It proved too confusing to set the quest up to accommodate for this. I WILL NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES offer support for anyone who does this, as it is noted here in bold. The “container” for the quests should be out of the way, and not easy to find without extensive exploration. Hopefully, you read the read me before exploring!

CREDITS, USAGE, AND THANKS

Thanks:

Palinurus and OldeCow69: Without the two of you, the quest would be leading a happy life in the recycle bin. Thank you both for all the help you’ve given me…and for putting up with my whining!

Enmesharra: Thank you for the dancer’s scripts*, and the bubble lever scripts.

Galsiah: Thank you for helping me with so many scripting questions.

Lady Rae: Thank you for testing and battling the crabs!

Lonewylfe: Thank you for fixing the spelling and grammar, and for making a few changes that really helped out!

*later amended by Palinurus to stop the dancer from dancing if the player exited the cell.

Thank you especially for the custom birds that fly in their own cage, for the sounds, for the scripts, and for fixing my birdcage! You are an amazing person! Upon request, additional documents for the birds and cats have been included. From the cats read me:

  • Aleanne for dress used by the Porcelain Dancer. I’ve retextured it to white.
  • Fariel, Nightstrider, and Zenorf for the base BB textures used for the 3 custom races. Your source files make creating custom races so much easier! Also KO_bb_skinm_br.dds is a renamed version of the original BB 2.0 texture. I renamed it and the mesh that required it, to avoid conflict with the original BB textures, or any texture replacer the player may use.
  • The Better Bodies team for the meshes that Sid, Pearl, mannequins, and the Porcelain Dancer use for their bodies. For more information about Better Bodies, please visit here;

  • NoLiv for the skirt mesh.
  • Ayse for the map board. There was no read me included in the archive, and after several attempts to contact Ayse I’ve decided to still include the map board. Please attempt to contact Ayse yourself if you also intend to use it.
  • StarBoi for the staff mesh that I retextured for the Ocean Staff.
  • Jog for the compass and spyglass pieces, named and re-textured so they would not conflict with Booty Island per Jog's request.

  • Adul for the watch mesh.

redwoodtreesprite@yahoo.com
http://www.zyworld.com/redwoodtreesprite/Home.htm
  • The Authors of Upright Beasts Version 2.0. Sidithie obtained her tail from here, although it uses my own textures. Redwoodtreesprite is the "me" referred to (see above) in the following paragraph:

"Karstux made the physiqued Khajiit Tails, and gave the OK for modders to use and modify them.

Midnight made the Argonian feet and one version, male and female, of the Argonian tails, and also gave the OK for using and modifying them. They first appeared in the Civilized Argonian Mod.

Calislahn physiqued the BB2 left-knee Argonian tail and one version of the neck Argonian tails for me to include in my resource and race packs.

All of the tail textures are Morrowind textures. The other meshes are all retextured Morrowind meshes, with two exceptions, the Argonian feet by Midnight. The feet textures for these are by Silaria."
